Structural Designer

Strom Minnesota has an exciting new opening for a Structural Designer with a great company located in the Twin Cities area.  A minimum of 4 years of job-related experience  is required.

Duties:
* Function as design technician providing structural drafting and design services focusing on commercial projects.
* Develop conceptual, preliminary and construction level drawings. Make revisions to existing drawings as needed.
* Apply engineering fundamentals to design.
* Convert 3D drawings, i.e.  sections/detail into 2D drawings as needed.
* Coordinate multi-discipline design/drafting efforts for projects.

* Visits job sites as needed.

* Work with engineers, project managers and other personnel as needed to meet project and company objectives.

Skills/Qualifications:
* Minimum two (2) year Associates Degree in Drafting Technology, or similar
* Minimum of four (4) years of relevant industry experience

* Must have solid knowledge of building design, concepts, BIM drawings and models.

* Sound technical knowledge in the area of computer-related drafting (Revit preferred).

* Ability to prepare and maintain engineering drawings and other documentation

* Excellent oral and written communications skills

* Outstanding organizational skills

* Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
* Must be a U.S. Citizen and/or be authorized to work in USA.

Plumbing Designer

Strom Minnesota is currently looking for an experienced Plumbing Designer for our client in Crystal, MN.  We are looking for applicants with 5+ years of Plumbing Design as it pertains to commercial building projects.  All work will be done with Revit software.  Any AutoCAD experience a plus, but not required.

Mechanical Drafter/Designer

Strom Minnesota is currently looking for a Mechanical Drafter/Designer for our client in Hamel, MN.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PURPOSE:

Develops clear, complete and accurate CAD drawings, models, and assemblies and product data / bills of material using PDM software.  Processes Engineering changes to above.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Proficient with 2D and 3D CAD software, IFS/PDM business software, Microsoft Word and Excel, and company email software.
• Assist engineers and designers with concepts, specifications, and related data and drawings.
• Using CAD software, creates layouts of mechanical components, systems, and machines.
• Computes angles, weights, surface areas, dimensions, radii, clearances, tolerances, leverages, and location of holes.
• Using CAD and IFS/PDM, prepares and checks detailed documentation.  Using proper dimensioning practice, drafts detailed multi-view drawings of parts, assemblies, and machines.
• Using CAD and IFS/PDM, prepares, checks, and processes Engineering changes to incorporate updated design to new or existing machines.
• Checks own work for accuracy and completeness.  May check the work of other designer drafters.  May participate in training other employees or create training documents for CAD and PDM.
• Estimates time to complete tasks, informs when tasks will exceed estimate.
• Ability to perform tolerance stack-ups and working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
• Work from sketches and marked-up prints.
• Read and interpret various technical, operating, and process documents. Write routine reports and correspondence.
• Solve routine questions and get help with complex problems from upper levels.
• Apply basic drafting skills in area of expertise and have good organizational skills.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Associate Degree in Design/Drafting

Experience: 0-3 of Designer/Drafting experience

Mechanical Designer/Drafter-Solidworks

Strom Minnesota has an immediate position available for a Mechanical Designer/Drafter skilled in SolidWorks 3D and AutoCAD for our client in St. Paul, MN.  The position requires working with project managers to create production drawings based on customer designs, develop tooling and fixtures, produce layout drawings and nest parts for plasma burning table.

Essential Functions

• Nest parts for plasma cutting table using ProNest.
• Create shop drawings from customer prints, drawings and models using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
• Submit drawings for customer approval and review comments and suggestions with customer, project manager and production.
• Create part layouts and templates.
• Design tooling and fixtures.

Qualifications and Skills

• Working knowledge of SolidWorks 3-D and AutoCAD.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office – Outlook, Excel, Word.
• Familiarity with metal fabrication processes including welding, grinding, plasma cutting, brake press and roll bending.
• Extreme detail orientation to assure high quality documentation.
• Show a positive and eager to learn attitude with strong work ethic.

 

Experience Required

• 2-3 years minimum experience in a metal fabrication environment producing layouts and drawings using SolidWorks and nesting using ProNest.
• 2 year technical college degree.
• Experience communicating with customers on technical matters.

Preferred Skills

• Experience in Information Technology and server maintenance.
