Mechanical Design Engineer


Location: Coon Rapids, MN

JOB TITLE: MECHANICAL DESIGN ENGINEER

Job Description:  Company is a leading designer and manufacturer of patented systems and tools for hydrostatic testing, end forming, tube expansion, and high-pressure accessories with pressure capabilities up to 60,000 psi (4,140 bar). Our expertise is understanding your application requirements and recommending the right equipment to get the job done. As a technology-based, market-driven company with 75 years of experience working with researchers, designers, and manufacturers – our success comes with building lasting business partnerships with our customers.  Improving existing and designing new products, this Mechanical Engineer will be designing and working with Manufacturing to enhance and develop new products used in hydro-expansion, hydro-testing, and end forming of tubes using SolidWorks. Our products are used The Engineer will interface with Inside Sales, Manufacturing area, vendors, Management, and customers developing solutions to sales applications. Evaluates mechanical and electromechanical systems and products by designing and applying principles of mechanics, hydraulics, and materials. Confirms system and product capabilities by designing feasibility and testing methods; testing properties. Assures system and product quality and reliability by designing testing methods; testing finished product and system capabilities; confirming fabrication, assembly, and installation processes. The candidate will also work closely with Marketing to develop specification details of products. Also working with Marketing reviewing product documentation for use both internally and customers. Working with Production, the candidate may suggest manufacturing processes such as using cutting saws or wire EDM process, coating of materials, and contribute to the “make/buy” decision making process. Maintains product and company reputation. Completes projects by training and guiding technicians. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

 

 

Education  Required:  Bachelor’s Degree although experience in lieu of degree may be considered.
