Strom Engineering Minnesota has an exciting new opening for a Quality Control Manager with a great company located in the Minneapolis-St. Paul, MN area. Duties: * Responsible for providing leadership and direction for the quality team in accordance with vision and value of the company. * Directs quality control inspections and testing activities to ensure continuous control over materials, facilities and products. * Acts as liaison between Engineering, Production, Field Operations and other departments as needed. * Communicates with engineers concerning questions or issues with drawings or details. * Oversee required documentation and filing for all testing, equipment calibrations, certifications for raw materials and any other quality control measures. * Ensure accurate batching, mixing and placing procedures so every concrete batch delivered is consistent with all aspects of specified concrete mix design. * Maintain compliance with Precast/Pre-stressed Concrete Institute (PCI) Quality Control Manual, Plant Quality Systems Manual, ASTM and applicable ACI codes. * Responsible for selection, training and retention of Quality Control team. * Responsible to train production staff on Quality Control on quality standards, procedures/guidelines, safety programs and annual training. * Participates and leads projects for continuous improvement (e.g. kaizen). * Participates and leads in research and development projects. * Manages the QC budget to actuals, including supplies and raw material input for QC during the annual budgeting process. Skills/Qualifications: * Education: 4-year Engineering Degree from accredited institution. * Experience: Concrete industry or related experience preferred. * Ability to read, understand and interpret architectural and engineering documents. * Expertise in concrete mix designs, concrete testing, tolerances, welding inspection and record keeping requirements. * Excellent computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office Word, Excel and Outlook. * Strong verbal and written communications skills. * Excellent Team player with ability to collaborate with other leaders. * Detail oriented; process management, continuous improvement/Lean skills. * Strong leadership skills including coaching, change management and conflict resolution. * Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. * Ability to develop and motivate others. * Working knowledge of PCI, ASTM, ACI, AWS, IAS and IBC industry standards.
