Strom Engineering of Minnesota has an exciting new opening for a HMI Design Engineer with a great company located in the Twin Cities, MN. The HMI Design Engineer will collaborate with optics and materials experts to create and test prototypes of new concepts for automotive human-machine interaction. Responsibilities: * Designing and fabricating prototype HMI components and systems. * Setting up “buck” level testing for interiors. * Developing key test procedures for HMI performance. * Planning, prioritizing and executing complex tests and procedures. * Documenting test events and results in appropriate format. * Analyzing, interpreting and reporting test results with good attention to detail. * Developing and assembling test measurement equipment. * Executing other lab duties, including system design, setup and equipment maintenance. * Directing technicians and data collection. * Executing all duties will strong quality and safety focus. Skills/Qualifications: * BS degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related discipline from an accredited university. * Minimum of five (5) years designing and/or testing HUD and display related components. * Experience with automotive industry including but not limited to experience with Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEMs), tier 1, tier 2 and/or material suppliers. * Experience with CAD and rapid prototyping. * Microsoft Office experience: spreadsheets, graphics, word processing, database management. * Mechanical aptitude and skills using hands-on approach. * Excellent oral and written communications skills. * Ability to analyze and solve problems and implement solutions. * Innovation skills such as developing new ideas and alternative solutions. * Can-do / will-do attitude. * Strong quality and safety focus. * Successful history of positive contributions in a team environment. * Travel: May include up to 15%. * Must be a U.S. Citizen or be authorized to work in the U.S.A.
