Strom Engineering Minnesota is looking for an experienced Shipping Assistant to work for our client company located in St. Paul, MN.
Hours: 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. M-F
Pay: $15-17.00 hr.
Serves as back up supervisor and coordinates activities of workers engaged in verifying and keeping records on outgoing shipments, and preparing items for shipment by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. The Master Scheduler may assign other duties.
Reviews Backlog Summary, bills of lading, orders, and other records to determine shipping priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods required to meet shipping schedules.
Oversees outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments.
Inspects loading operations to ensure compliance with shipping specifications.
Inspects material handling equipment for defects and notifies Maintenance Supervisor for repairs.
Directs movement of shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage and work areas.
Prepares bills of lading.
Issues written and oral instructions to subordinates.
Standardizes procedures to improve efficiency of subordinates.
Ensures that all ISO9001 procedures are being followed according to the requirements of the job description.
Motivates subordinates to work as a team.
Addresses errors and complaints about the Shipping Department.
Responsible for Daily Ship List disbursement.
Packs parts and prepares packaging for shipment.
Directly supervises employees in Shipping.. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Associate’s degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages and volume.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must be able to be forklift certified.
