Strom Minnesota is currently looking for Mechanical, Electrical and Hydraulic Machine Builder/Assemblers. These positions are located in the NW Metro, hours are 7:am-3:30pm M-F. Positions starting at $24.50an hour. These opportunities do require the ability to pass a DOT physical and pre-employment drug screen.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Technical Fundamentals
- Understands and applies shop rules, proper safety and PPE at all times and references MSDS to remain safe
- Understands proper use and care of required tools
- Understands and can interpret basic engineering prints
- Understands basic addition and fraction conversions
- Understands metal working fundamentals and proper tool use, including operating drills, bending, cutting and knowledge of materials and threading
- Understands desired surface finish after deburring and grinding process
Assembly
- Demonstrates proper and safe, use and technique of torque procedures
- Demonstrates safe and correct use of all metal working and fabrication tools
- Demonstrates safe operation of overhead cranes and forklift utilized to lift parts while avoiding damage to parts
- Demonstrates the ability to identify AAR and machine components
- Demonstrates the ability to identify and properly use SAE and metric hardware, coarse and fine thread, grades and plating
- Demonstrates the ability to configure, use and troubleshoot oxygen and acetylene use.
- Demonstrates an understanding of metal types, properties, characteristics and requirements for cutting and welding
Safety
- Demonstrates understanding of mechanical safety, OSHA compliance and lock out tag out
- Demonstrates and applies an understanding of shop rules and job briefing, proper techniques, PPE and MSDS referencing at all times to remain safe
- Demonstrates proper configuration of switches, communicate switches and distance of objects using radios,
- Demonstrates proper operation of hand brake, derails, and wheel chocks
- Demonstrates the ability to coordinate clearing of area
Quality
- Demonstrates understanding and ability to interpret and apply MF documents and Best Practice Manuals
- Demonstrates focus on continuous improvement by completing company specific yellow belt training
- Demonstrates understanding and ability to follow control process for non-conforming material and redlines
Production Workflow
- Demonstrates the ability to correctly locate and gather parts from the parts storage area
- Demonstrates the ability to locate, understand and apply shop order packets and production process flows
- Demonstrates the ability to read and understand standard work documents
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Associates Degree with Technical certificate or Equivalent Experience
Experience: 6 Months+ Manufacturing assembly experience – could be a combination of education and experience in fluid, welding, electrical or electronics, mechanical disciplines
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Pass all required background, drug and alcohol tests
- Maintain applicable manufacturing and railroad safety training refresher courses
- Able to take, learn and pass all required Level 1 training courses as required by company including periodic refreshers
